Reflect on your dreams, the challenges you hope to overcome, the person you aspire to become, and the legacy you wish to leave behind.

A Thank You Letter to Someone Who Inspired You
Write a heartfelt letter to someone who inspired you to become a kinder, more responsible and caring citizen of the world. Explain how their actions, words or values influenced you and how you hope to pass that inspiration on to others.

Competition Rules
Keep it original. Keep it yours.
EligibilityOpen to young people aged 12–18, with judging separated into age groups 12–15 and 16–18.
LanguageAll submissions must be written in English.
Word limitMaximum 800 words.
Choose one promptYour entry must respond to one of the three official writing prompts.
OriginalityYour submission must be your own original work and must not have been published elsewhere.
SubmissionEntries must be submitted through the official submission form by 25 September 2026.
AI & Originality Policy
Generative AI must not be used to create or substantially rewrite the submission. Entries may be reviewed for inappropriate AI use and may be disqualified if they breach this rule.
Not allowed
- Generating the entry or substantial parts of it.
- Turning notes or an outline into finished writing.
- Substantially rewriting or paraphrasing the student's work.
- Generating a completed English version on the student's behalf.
Allowed
- Dictionary or thesaurus use.
- Basic spelling checking.
- Basic grammar or punctuation checking that does not substantially rewrite the work.
- Feedback from a teacher or parent, provided they do not write the entry for the student.
Shortlisted participants may be asked to discuss their work or provide drafts or notes as reasonable evidence of authorship.
